Food minister praises FCI's role in ensuring India's food security on 60th anniversary

Union Minister Piyush Goyal emphasizes the significance of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in maintaining the country's self-sufficiency in food and highlights the need for transparency and modernization.In celebration of FCI's 60th founding anniversary, Union Minister Piyush Goyal commends the organization's crucial role in securing India's food requirements.

Goyal acknowledges the historic achievement of ensuring food self-sufficiency, preventing hunger for 800 million citizens. The minister stresses the importance of transparency, digital adoption, and cost-effective operations for FCI's continued success in procuring and distributing farm produce under the National Food Security Act. The FCI has recently embarked on a modernization drive, incorporating technologies like automated weighing bridges and closed-circuit cameras.
